Thanks for the feedback! So, this obviously isn't a one-size fits all approach. For my bigger clients who have a rapport, a legal team, contracts are signed, etc, that obviously doesn't apply here.
Remember what it was like starting out and needing clients -- any clients -- to get the ball rolling and start getting any sort of revenue. Get paid in full, remove the backdoor. I've only had to actually do this a few times. For one particular client, I had to install the application on his physical machine for them to "test", they ended up trying to run.
I agree that the SaaS model is ideal if you're selling a product but that's not what I'm talking about.
